*LIEGE SPORTING GUN CO. SIDE OPENING OVER/UNDER SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. Has all the appearances of an ordinary over/under with 30″ solid rib bbls. However, closer examination reveals a long, curved lever on the right side with a knurled pad. Depressing the lever allows the bbls to swing to the left exposing the chambers for loading or unloading. The wrap-around forearms are built in two panels, the left of which has a standard Deeley-style latch. The receiver is fairly thick with long upper tang, extractors and dbl. triggers with a sliding thumb safety on the top tang. Wood is marbled French or Circassian walnut with the aforementioned fully checkered forearms and straight grip stock, 14-1/4″ over a solid red pad. The oval gold toeplate in engraved with the initials “WD”. Accompanied by a blue velvet lined hard case. SN 1356. CONDITION: Excellent. Metal retains about 95% strong original blue, slightly thinned on the sides and turning plum. There is a replaced sliver in the left forearm panel, otherwise the wood is sound and retains most of its fine original finish. Bright shiny bores. Case is fine. 4-45965 JR502 (500-1,000)
