*1939 MAUSER BANNER EAGLE “F” POLICE LUGER. Cal. 9mm. Standard Luger with 4″ bbl, 1939 chamber date, Mauser banner on the toggle link. Made without straw colors. Full checkered wood grips with one black body aluminum base magazine with number 390w, a number “1” on one side and a “+” mark on the other. There is a police sear safety on the side of the receiver. The sideplate, in addition to the last two digits of the SN, has been stamped with a very tiny eagle and a “6”.Based on data supplied by Sayre, Cate, Pearson and Costanzo (1977), there appears to have been 2290 of these pistols, of which only 34 have been reported. Accompanied by an Eagle “F” proofed tool. SN. 352w. This Luger is featured on page 153 of Jan Still’s book “THIRD REICH LUGERS” and is Ex. Collection of Don Hallock. CONDITION: Very good, all matching, including the numbered bbl. The bbl retains 95-96% bright blue with muzzle and sharp edge wear. The receiver retains about 90% thinning original blue. The frame retains most of a fine restored finish. The grips are very good, with a few small chips and light diamond point wear. The sideplate also appears to have been refinished.
