*ARIETTA DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. . Imported by Orvis as their Custom Grade with 27″ bbls, raised, tapered, fine matted rib with single brass bead, coin finish receiver with seven pin sidelocks. It has nicely figured walnut stock and forearm with diamond checkered splinter forearm and fine checkered stock with straight grip and teardrop side panels, 14-1/4″ over a leather covered pad with a gold toeplate bearing the initials “CKW”. Receiver, lockplates, triggerguard and opening lever are very nicely engraved with English style rose and scroll patterns. Bottom of the receiver is marked with the Arietta name and address. It is fitted with dbl. triggers and ejectors. Accompanied by an Orvis canvas and leather sheepskin lined takedown case. SN 34272. CONDITION: As new. Retains virtually all its original finish to both metal and wood with a spot or two of light rust on the bbls, otherwise bright coin finish and bright blue. Stock has a hairline back of the right lockplate, otherwise the wood retains about all its original varnish with light use marks and a long light gouge on the right side of the buttstock.
