*FRANCOTTE SIDEPLATE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20ga. Fine high-grade box lock lightweight little shotgun with 27-3/4″ bbls, choked IMP-CYL/CYL with raised tapered matted rib, 2-ivory beads, dbl. lump with Greener cross bolt. The bbls are marked with “VON LENGERKE & DETMOLD” on the right bbl and “U.S. AGENETS NEW-YORK” on the left. Receiver is decorated with very fine arabesque pattern engraving with about 85% coverage over the receiver and sideplates. The sideplates are also marked with the makers name. . The fences are deep engraved with vine and floral patterns and have side clips. Top tang has an “S” in gold. It is fitted with ejectors and dbl. triggers. Wood is highly figured, streaky French walnut with checkered splinter forearm and round knob semi-pistol grip stock, 14-1/8″ over an old leather faced pad. Accompanied by an Abercrombie & Fitch, Purdy lightweight maroon felt lined, leather motor case with the initials “WKW” on the front. Weighs 5 lb 6.8 oz. SN 81893. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. Bbls retain 95-97% strong bright original blue with a scrape on the left bbl and a couple of spots of light surface rust. Receiver and sideplates retains 75-80% faded case colors, strong and bright in the sheltered areas. Stock is sound and retains most of its original oil finish. Forearm is dark and oil stained and shows moderate wear. Case is very good. 4-47034 JR477 (1,000-2,000)
