*SPECTACULAR AND RARE PARKER A-1 SPECIAL DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. Built on a #2 frame with 32” barrels, choked Modified/Improved Cylinder, having a tapered matted rib with double ivory beads, ejectors and checkered gold plated Parker single trigger. The receiver, foreend iron, tangs and opening lever, are wonderfully engraved with extremely fine floral and arabesque pattern full coverage engraving, with each side of the receiver having the “Parker Bros.” name in tiny ribands. The fences are triple scallop engraved with deep relief fleur-de-lis/leaf raised patterns on each side. The top tang and opening lever are matching engraved and the triggerguard and lower tang are equally engraved with the serial number in raised numbers and the trigger bow is filigree cut with a diamond shape and two teardrops. The engraving extends 2-1/2” up the barrels and on the doll’s head. The water table on the receiver and barrels, the standing breech and interior surfaces of the foreend iron are jeweled and the barrel lugs are cross hatched. The rib is also marked with the maker’s name and address and “Whitworth Steel”. The wood is beautiful marble cake, honey and chocolate French walnut with a full checkered splinter forearm, having raised fleur-de-lis and raised border edges. The buttstock is straight grip, 14” over a solid red pad, having very fine checkered fleur-de-lis raised side panels and an extensively checkered and carved fleur-de-lis patterns on the wrist. There is a gold rectangular shaped toeplate bearing the initials “D.W.N.” SN 153530. CONDITION: Excellent plus, the barrels retain about 98% strong bright original blue. The receiver and foreend iron retain about all of their strong original case colors, slightly thinned near the front of the receiver. The standing breech shows only minor mars from opening and closing. The wood is sound and retains most of its fine original finish. The bores are brilliant and shiny. 4-47478 JL (50,000-80,000)
