*FRANCOTTE SIDEPLATE DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. Beautiful 1930’s shotgun with 28″ bbls, raised tapered matted rib with single bead, choked FULL/MOD, dbl lump and Greener cross bolt with ejectors. The bbls are marked with “VON LENGERKE & DETMOLD” on the right bbl and “U.S. AGENETS NEW-YORK” on the left. Receiver and sideplates have extremely fine vine and floral engraving surrounded by very fine arabesque patterns with almost 100% coverage. The fences are deeply engraved with leaf and vine patterns and have side clips. It has nicely figured straight grain French walnut stock and splinter forearm, checkered wrist, 15-1/8″ over a crystallized leather faced pad. It has dbl. triggers. Accompanied by a leather leg-o-mutton takedown case. Weighs 6 lb 14.2 oz. SN 86880. CONDITION: Bbls retain 93-95% strong bright original blue with some light surface rust from poor storage in the case. Receiver retains about 90% bright case colors faded on the bottom. Stock is sound and retains about 90% original finish, chipped and cracked grip cap. Forearm is dark and oil stained with two large gouges and a bruise near the tip, but shows only modest wear.
