MURDOCH ALL METAL FLINTLOCK PISTOL. NSN. Cal. 54, 7-1/4″ stepped bbl. Ramrod and pricker ball are replaced. The silver plate on the right side of the grip has a fancy monogram, but it is not readable. The one on the left grip is blank. The Murdoch family operated in Doune, Scotland during the 18th and 19th centuries. The marking “I.MURDOCH” does not identify which of the family this one was made by, but the style indicates that it was made in the mid-18th century. Iron stock is engraved over all and has 3/16″ engraved silver bands running across the bottom and arabesques running from the bbl to the butt. Bbl is also engraved but has no silver bands. CONDITION: Light to moderate pitting over all; heavier on the left side near the muzzle. A small amount of the silver wire inlay is missing on the stock.
