WINCHESTER HENRY MARKED MODEL 1866 RIFLE. Cal. 44RF. Outstanding early rifle with 24″ oct. bbl, full magazine, Henry-style ladder sight, early style foreend cap with sling swivel and brass buttplate with trap containing a 4-pc brass and iron wiping rod. The top flat of the bbl has Henry’s patent marking and King’s patent markings, which are very thin but legible except for the year on the King’s patent. The buttstock numbers are all matching. SN 20616. CONDITION: Excellent, plus. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 90% strong bright original blue with scattered fine surface rust and one or two spots of pitting. Receiver has a fine medium-mustard patina with sharp edges, never having been polished, with minor pry marks on the front edges of the sideplates. Battered sideplate screw. Wood is exceptional, retaining 95-97% strong bright varnish. Strong bright bore with scattered pitting. A truly outstanding early 66 rifle. 4-46723 JR 202 (10,000-20,000)
