WHITNEY FLINTLOCK MUSKET.

WHITNEY FLINTLOCK MUSKET. NSN. Cal. .70. 42″ bbl. Lockplate is marked “N.HAVEN” in a ribbon in front of the hammer. There are no proof marks on the bbl indicating that it is a state contract, which is verified by the CT state seal branded in the wood. Bbl does have the deeply punched condemnation mark above the touch hole. Front 15″ of the stock appears to be replaced. CONDITION: Rust-brown patina overall with moderate pitting. Wood has numerous dents and chips with several cracks in the lock area. There is a heavy oil/dirt coating on most surfaces. There are some marks on the bbl from the oversized flint. Jaw screw is a replacement. 4-47494 FS832 (1,000-1,500)
