I. MOLL KENTUCKY RIFLE. The 39″ oct. bbl stamped “I. MOLL” on the top flat. Cal. 36. Deeply rifled with 8 grooves, blade front sight, unusual rear sight with key adjustment for elevation. Eyepiece a square steel block with tapered opening which has two silver line inlays within the cone to assist the shooter in lining up the sights with the target, lightly engraved flat “R/ASHMORE” percussion lock dbl set triggers. Very lightly engraved brass patchbox, brass mounts including nicely formed single screw sideplate with scalloped edges, buttplate, triggerguard, forend cap and 3 ramrod pipes, full stocked with applied dark varnish finish. CONDITION: Muzzle has been cleaned/filed a tiny bit (perhaps 1/16″) throughout and very fine plus. Bbl with very strong traces of the original blue with dark age brown, lightly cleaned in the nipple area. Lock lightly cleaned to a dull natural steel color, the stock and mounts about excellent, still retains the original ramrod. Bore is about mint. 4-46205 (1,500-2,000)
