SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1807 INDIAN CARBINE. NSN. Cal. .54, 33-5/8″ round bbl, dated “1807” on the rear of the lockplate which has standard markings in front of the hammer. Bbl has a large “U.S.” on top, followed by a diamond shape condemnation mark. The date “1808” appears on the brass buttplate. A sharp “US” inspector mark is on the left side of the stock. A fine reconversion. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina on the bbl matching on the lock. Wood is fine with minor handling marks. Brass has a mellow patina with spots of pitting on the tail of the triggerguard. Lock is good. Only 1,202 of these rare carbines were made and virtually all of them were converted to percussion. Reconversions are very acceptable on this model. 4-46955 FS733 (8,000-11,000)
