ASSEMBLED KENTUCKY RIFLE. NSN. Cal. 40, 42-3/4″ oct. bbl marked (in script) “C Gumpf” on top surrounded by stamped stars. Lock is marked “DREPERT”. Stock has strong striping. Engraved patchbox is the 4-pc type, probably Lancaster area. This is a reconversion. Lock is a replacement and is slightly larger than the original. Hammer is a replacement to this lock and is slightly loose. Top jaw and screw are incorrect replacements. CONDITION: Gray patina over all with light to moderate pitting, heavier at the breech. Brass has a dark mustard patina. Silver escutcheons have a light blue color, including the right rear, which is a replacement. Stock has several minor cracks, mostly repaired. There is some loss at the toe of the butt and the toeplate/patchbox release is a replacement. FS804 4-47526 (1,500-2,500)
