FINE BANGOR, MAINE PERCUSSION SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. .38 perc. Dainty sporting or hunting rifle by C. V. Ramsdell, Bangor, ME, and signed on the left upper bbl flat with 29″ oct. bbl having a turned muzzle for bullet starter with tube front sight and long decorated rear sight with elevator and a folding lollipop rear sight. Mounted in a walnut half stock with pewter nose cap, brass furniture and a simple 2-piece brass patchbox with crescent brass buttplate. Back action lock is lightly engraved and marked “GOULCHER”. Bottom of the bbl has an iron rail with two iron guides and a brass tipped rammer that is probably a replacement. CONDITION: Good to very good. Metal retains a mottled gray-brown patina. Brass has been polished bright, good mechanics. Dbl set triggers are fine. Wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish. 4-46990 JR390 (1,000-1,500)
