L. KARNS PERCUSSION FULL STOCK RIFLE. NSN. Cal. .38, 35-1/2″ oct. bbl. Louis Karns worked in Illinois in 1860 and ended up is Oswego, KS in 1882. The styling of this rifle appears to be earlier than either and is possibly a father of Louis. This is a left handed rifle with the cheek-piece on the right side and the patchbox with has the engraved initials “L P” on the left. CONDITION: Gray-brown patina on the metal, the brass has a dark mustard patina. Stock has been broken in two at the wrist and repaired with two brass straps and screws. Ramrod has been replaced. Another piece of wood has been added at the front of the lock. Lock and set triggers work good. 4-47359 FS281 (800-1,200)
