*COLT MODEL 1911A1 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL IDENTIFIED TO BERNARD E. ANDERSON FROM WWII.

SN 741381. Cal. 45 ACP. Usual configuration with 5″ bbl, orig fixed sights & mounted with full checkered brown plastic grips. Slide & frame have standard markings with “R. S. (Col. Robert Sears)” inspector initials. Bbl & bushing are modern, commercial replacements. Accompanied by 1 all blue military magazine. Slide lock is also a modern replacement. Slide is matching numbered to the frame. Accompanied by a Boyt military holster with “U.S.” on the flap and a WWII OD canvas pistol belt with brass fittings. Also accompanied by a OD green 50 Cal. ammo can. Additionally accompanied by a January 1942 field manual #23-35 for “Pistols M1911A1 Caliber 45 ACP”. Also an Arlington Cemetery plot map showing Mr. Anderson’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery. A note on an accompanying paper shows that this pistol was purchased from “Mrs. Noi Anderson” on Jan 28, 1997. A note attached to the holster and a small black pistol case states that this pistol was issued to Mr. Anderson in 1942. It lists his service # as “6833A”. PROVENANCE: The Brad Shepard Collection. CONDITION: Pistol is about good and overall retains a thin silver/grey/green patina. Bbl & bushing as noted. Grips show heavy wear. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore. Holster is crackled on the flap, shows moderate to heavy wear with a dark brown polish. Belt is moderately faded, but sound. Manual and can are fine. 50062-229 JR184 C&R (2,000-4,000) – Lot 1734
