*U.S. MODEL 1903 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY RIFLE.

SN 275404. Cal. 30-06. 24″ bbl, straight grain American walnut stock and hand guard. This is a low number early production U.S. Springfield rifle. Bbl is dated “1-07” underneath “SA” and an ordnance bomb proof. Rear sight is graduated to 2700 yards. Stock bears a “C.G.V.” cartouche in a rectangle on left side. Stock has an “S” proof at front end and a “Circle P” proof under “#59” behind trigger guard. Forend is of the flat-top style and appears to be orig to this rifle. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl and receiver retain 50-60% of orig blue finish. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Trigger guard retains 30% or orig blue finish. Floorplate is an even plum-brown patina. Bbl bands are an even brown patina. Buttplate retains 20% of orig blue finish with wear and erosion on heel and toe. This is a fine example of a very early Springfield Model 1903 rifle in its orig configuration. 49767-5 TEP C&R (2,000-2,500) – Lot 1722
