PENCIL SKETCH BUST OF ALBERT SIDNEY McLEMORE. Who is identified as a Colonel and has the Marine Corps globe and anchor on his collar. This sketch was done by James Montgomery Flag in 1919 and is presented with an ink autograph “To my good friend, Ernest H. King, with kind regards, Albert S. McLemore”. King was an Admiral and U.S. Navy Chief of Operations during WWII. Accompanying documents identify McLemore and give particulars on his military awards. Flag, of course, is famous for portrait of Uncle Sam used on recruiting posters. CONDITION: Fine. Slight tear upper left. Deep wood frame is slightly open on the corners due to shrinkage.
