*HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION COLLATH DRILLING WITH EXTRA DOUBLE SHOTGUN BARRELS AND SCOPE.

SN 17201. Cal. 9.3x74R x 16 x 16, and 16 ga. 28-1/4″ Drilling bbls choked full and full, are fitted with full length matted rib with pop-up rear sight and interesting dual front bead, also have scope mounts. Bbls are of Witten steel. 30″ Double shotgun bbls are choked improved cylinder and full, have full length matted rib, and are engraved “WITTENER” and “EXCELSIOR”. Collath’s interesting underlever actuated slide and tilt action is engraved with makers name on right, and Frankfort address on left. It features his unusual pivoting winged safety and horn covered operating lever. Rifle selector is a pivoting ball mounted on right side of trigger plate. Action is engraved with about 60% coverage unusual tightly whorled scroll. Front trigger is set. Trigger guard is of horn. Nicely marbled European walnut stock with cartridge trap on toe line, and right hand shadow line cheekpiece, measures 14″ over ribbed horn buttplate. Grip is unusually shaped with extreme curve which almost turns forward, and has horn cap. Forend is integral with action, and bbls take down by sliding pin at forward portion. Zeiss Zielvier scope with 3 post reticle is in sweated-on claw mounts, and fits drilling bbls well (most likely original). PROVENANCE: The Timothy Scott Collection. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain approx 95% orig blue. Action retains over 80% orig case hardening color, and a great deal of orig varnish. Stocks retain nearly all of their orig finish, grain slightly raised, checkering slightly worn. Shotgun bores are excellent with a few scattered pits in double shotgun bbls. Rifle bore is lightly frosted. Action is extremely tight. Set trigger works. Scope is excellent, optics slightly hazed. 50071-13 MGM156 C&R (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1699
