SN NSN. Cal. 45 ACP. Manufactured clandestinely, one million Model FP-45 pistols were manufactured by the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors. These guns were given the nickname Liberator as they were to be dropped behind enemy lines for resistance use. Made of sheet metal construction with a 4″ smooth bore and a trap bottom for holding additional cartridges. Initially made for the European theater, a large portion of the production ended up with General William Donovan of the O.S.S. These rare guns are now classified as curio and relic. PROVENANCE: Gerard Ruth Collection, ex Alex Chauffe SR. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, with very slight darkening on backstrap as these guns were never finished. This one is exceptionally fine.
