MACNAUGHTON “EDINBURGH” ROUND ACTION EJECTOR GAME GUN IN 16 GAUGE.

SN 1500. (ca 1890) Cal. 16 ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 28″ Bbls with makers name and address on concave game rib, are choked mod and mod. Bbl flats bear 2010 London nitro re-proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers. Round bodied, trigger plate action with long cocking top lever, (patent use “221”) has MacNaughton’s toggle safety on tang, and inspection port through top lever to view hammers, as cocking indicators. Action is engraved with sprays of scroll. “MACNAUGHTON” “EDINBURGH” is over top of fences. Well marbled and lightly figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over Silver type pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. A gold circle on toe line is engraved “1”. Matching splinter ejector (MacNaughton patent use no. “28”) forend has forward pivoting lever release. PROVENANCE: The Timothy Scott Collection. CONDITION: Good, as mostly refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of a lustrous re-black, most likely done at time of most recent re-proof. Action is completely cleaned to silver gray. Stocks are nicely refinished over a number of marks. Pad is relatively new. Checkering re-cut and is sharp. Bores are very fine to excellent with some scattered pits. Action is tight. Mechanically fine. Forward third of forend wood is cracked through on one side, and is quite tender. 50071-2 MGM168 (1,500-2,000) – Lot 1669
