Artic scene with polar bear exiting water onto ice flow to attack seal, signed lower right H.A. Fish, Ca 1917 in finely carved contemporary commemorative frame inscribed “Bark John Carver, Captain Aaron Dean”. Frame decorated with sailing bark, harpoons and a whaling scene with whale along the bottom edge. Captain Aaron Dean is listed as having captained the Bark John Carver from the port in New Bedford Mass., from about 1875. SIZE: Canvas 10″ x 14″, Frame 13-3/4″ x 17-1/2″.
