HARPER’S FERRY MODEL 1855 RIFLE. NSN. Cal. .61, smooth bore; 33″ part oct. bbl dated “1857” on the tail of the lock. Date on bbl/tang is unreadable due to pitting. The spare nipple and long-range sight are in their compartments inside the patchbox. The two inspector cartouches on the left side of the stock are faint. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina on iron parts with light to moderate pitting at the breech. Bbl is smooth. Brass has a number of small dents and flaws with a mellow patina. Front sling swivel is a replacement. The gun apparently has a dark varnish which is old and warn but covers scratches and gouges. Mechanically fine. 4-46191 X4 (7,500-15,000)
