GRISWOLD CONFEDERATE MODEL 1842 ARTILLERY SWORD. 31-1/4″ single Fuller blade clearly marked “THOMAS. GRISWOLD & Co./NEW ORLEANS.” on the left ricasso. Plain leather wrap on grip with twisted wire binding. Brass scabbard. CONDITION: Gray patina with light pitting and spotting blending to very heavy at the tip. Guard and pommel have a spotty dark patina. Wrap has minor chips but is generally very good. Wire is worn smooth in places. Scabbard is dented overall, heavily at the tip which is partially broken 6″ from the tip. Upper carrying ring is heavily worn. 4-46193 FS575 (12,000-16,000)
