PALMETTO M1842 “MISSISSIPPI” RIFLE. NSN. Cal. .58, 33″ bbl. Marked “Wm GLAZE & CO.” on the left side with “V/P” over a Palmetto tree on the upper left side. Lockplate has the proper Palmetto armory stamp in front of the hammer and “COLUMBIA” behind the hammer, but the date is not readable. Several sets of initials have been carved on the left side of the stock. Ramrod is a poor replacement. CONDITION: Moderate pitting over all, heavier at the breech. Stock has been repaired and sanded. Brass has a mellow patina. FS819 4-47560 (4,000-6,000)
