BALLARD’S OBELISK TIN FLOUR SIGN.

Fabulous illustration of a young boy in his sailor uniform sitting on barrels of this Louisville, KY manufacturer’s flour. Label graphics on the barrels include Egyptian themes of a Sphinx, the Great Pyramid, a hieroglyphic carved stone obelisk and camels. The waterscape over his left shoulder appears to be a scene taken from the Nile. Sign is constructed from two pieces of tin, factory-seamed horizontally through the middle, and has not been cropped. Only example known to exist to the cataloger. Copyright 1896 by C. W. Shonk litho., Chicago. SIZE: Image: 33″ w x 46″ h. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Richard J. Miller. CONDITION: Good to very good; exhibits overall fine surface pitting/flaking. Sensational graphics with tremendous visual impact. 1-15092 (800-1,200) – Lot 1606
