LARGE TARGET UNDER HAMMER RIFLE. NSN. Cal. 40, 32-1/4″ oct. bbl marked “B. C. WOOD/P. POST N. Y” on top. Globe front sight and windage adjustable lollipop tang sight. There are two earlier screw holes in the tang. Round patchbox. There is a silver oval on the left cheek of the stock with a dog behind and a running rabbit in front. A flying pheasant is on the right side of the stock. CONDITION: Rust-brown patina on the bbl with many vice and/or wrench marks. The original (?) front or rear sight position almost in the middle of the bbl has been filled with a blank with lead in the screw holes on either side. Wood has some scratching and light chips at the end of the trigger plate and is possibly cleaned as all of the inlays stand slightly proud. Mechanically good. 4-47228 FS670 (400-600)
