UNCLE SAM STRENGTH TESTER TOP.A classic arcade machine with tremendous appeal. Only a partial machine, the consignors enjoyed the aesthetics of this piece and had it handing on their wall in their house for many years. Originally the large iron casting was mounted to a wooden pedestal base with claw feet & placed in arcades and/or other locations for use. The concept being, for a penny, how hard could I squeeze Uncle Sam’s hand, and a dial would register your efforts. Originally manufactured by two companies, Caille and Exhibit Supply Co., there were two slightly different versions/cabinet styles. This particular machine, or part of, is an original casting with a fair amount of the mechanism still present. It is an old repaint, probably 30-40 years ago and is currently on Free Play. SIZE: Approx 28″ t. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Richard J. Miller. CONDITION: As stated above, old repaint, lacking plaque over coin entry area, newer paper behind dial. 1-14988 (600-1,200) – Lot 1593 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
