WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-55. Antique, standard grade rifle with 26″ round bbl, full magazine, half-nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight, extra finish wood with very nicely figured forearm and straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. SN 46547. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. Bbl retains 95-96% blue turning plum. Magazine tube retains 93-95% bright blue with wear from takedown at the front band. Foreend cap retains 96-97% strong bright original blue. Receiver retains 93-95% strong bright blue on the sides, thinning on the top and at the carry point. Lever retains 30-40% strong case colors with the balance turned silver. The hammer retains about 95% dark case colors. Buttplate retains 50-60% thin faded case colors. Wood is sound and retains 95-96% strong bright original varnish with minor nicks and a couple of bruises on the forearm and another at the wrist. Bright shiny bore with some light scattered fine pitting. A fine early takedown rifle. 4-47001 JR415 (3,000-5,000)
