Second half 19th century, U.S. comprised of eight side chairs, each with a serpentine c-scroll carved and molded crestrail above a pierced and interlacing splat flanked by molded tapering stiles over a slip seat with shell carved seatrail, on acanthus carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet. Two retaining original labels for “KIMON NICOLAIDES WASHINGTON ART GALLERIES FOREIGN WORKS OF THE ART AND ANTIQUE FURNITURE, 1409 H STREET WASHINGTON D.C.” late 19th century auctioneers and retailers of imported goods.
