BUFFALO BILL’S WILD WEST POSTER OF LAKOTA INDIAN CHIEF “RED CLOUD”.

Extremely rare, sensational illustration of a young Red Cloud on horseback, scouting a prairie landscape, captioned “Waiting and Watching”. He was born in 1822 in Nebraska and was Chief of the Oglala Lakota (Sioux) from 1868-1909, living in what is today northeastern Wyoming and southern Montana. Due to his successful campaigns against U.S. Government troops, he was considered to be the single most important Lakota leader and statesman of the 19th Century. Sign is captioned “The Red Fox ‘Red Cloud’ Waiting and Watching”. Lithographed by A. Hoen & Co., Baltimore, circa 1888. SIZE: Image: 21-8/5″ w x 27-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Richard J.
