FINE SILVER AND IVORY MOUNTED CAUCAS MIGULET AND GERMAN WHEELOCK PISTOL ONCE IN THE COLLECTION OF RUDOLPH HESS.

SN NSN. 1) Caucasian Migulet pistol, circa 1800 engraved and black enameled, silver mounted with relief engraved 13-1/16″ bbl, 18-1/2″ overall with 2″ dia walrus ivory pommel. 2) 17th century German wheelock iron mounted in overall fine condition with plain iron mounts with original iron tipped ramrod. This pair of pistols along with several others in this sale were brought back by an American GI in WWII from home of Rudolph Hess and have been retained in family collection since 1945. PROVENANCE: Family History states these were taken from home of Rudolph Hess, brought to American in 1945. Estate Collection of Harold R. Beacham. CONDITION: 1) Very good to fine overall, front silver bbl band is separated at its seam, silver has several cracks, dents and dings but overall “as found”. The “certifiable antique walrus ivory” spherical pommel has mottled patina with staining. Appears functional and complete with smooth 55 cal bore. 2) Fine overall, smooth iron surfaces with scattered staining and pin prick pitting, area of rust on reverse of banded pommel, appears original and complete with well fit solid stock with hairline crack on right side of forestock and forward end of butt, wood has hand worn patina with attractive striped grain. Base of original tapered ramrod is broken near its end. Gun appears mechanically functional with smooth 52 cal bore. 50164-4 JS IVORY (5,000-8,000) – Lot 1551
