Ebes” Note: Gabriella is the eldest daughter of renowned Aboriginal artist Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri. She studied painting with her father at an early age, and in 1985, at the age of 16, she won the coveted Alice Springs Art Award . Gabriella is recognized as a culturally significant artist beyond the borders of Australia. Despite the influence of her father, she developed her own distinct style. Her paintings depict stories inspired by her culture represented in vivid color and composed using a dot technique. The theme “Bush Tucker” refers to the name used to describe native Australian food used as sustenance for indegenous peoples. Gabriella’s uses themes like exploding seed and black seed from the Mt. Allan area, where she was born. This lot is accompanied by a VHS video tape and two books on Aboriginal Art, including works by Gabriella SIZE: 42″ x 48″.
