SEVENTEENTH CENTURY GERMAN PROCESSIONAL SNAPHAUNCE AXE-PISTOL COMBINATION.SN NSN. Cal. 42. 6-1/2″ iron barrel, half oct to rnd with flared muzzle. Snaphaunce lock, iron axe-head fitted over base of muzzle, thin blade with cruciform proof on right side. Wooden haft polished bone inlaid profusely with rows of snail-like swirls with hundreds of small rnd incised spheres. Engraved bone pommel has lion’s faces on either side and butt. CONDITION: Fair to good overall, iron mounts dark gray with staining and pitting. Stock has several condition issues but retains most of its inset bone decoration with old wood inset repair opposite lock about 2″ x 1″, several other cracks and repairs to stock including bone inset in butt which is only 1/3 present and repaired bone inset to left of tang. 50164-5 JS (2,500-4,500) – Lot 1550
