RARE RUSSIAN “TULA” ARSENAL BRASS MOUNTED FLINTLOCK CONVERSION MUSKET.

SN 17706. Cal. 69. Rarely offered are imperial Russian arms and this is a well marked and proofed arsenal conversion measuring 57″ overall with 41-1/2″ bbl. Lock is marked in Cyrillic “TULA / 1833”. Buttplate has imperial Russian 2-headed eagle stamped above rack number. Bbl is SNd 17706. Small proofs and dates are found on all brass parts. CONDITION: Fair to good overall, gun appears original and matching though rear band is dated 1834 and all other brass components are dated 1833. Fore-stock has several glued repairs, 1 forward of lock escutcheon about 10″ forward through rear band and another about 8″ long on right side running from ramrod channel through middle band to top of channel, there is also chipping of ramrod channel at middle band forward to front strapping band. Bbl and lock are brown/gray overall, still bright under bands with pitting especially near breech. Mechanically gun functions well with crisp action and smooth clear bore. 50158-1 JS (2,500-3,500) – Lot 1549
