WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-90. Standard grade rifle with 26″ oct. bbl, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Bbl has a standard front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight and early style Lyman tang sight with spiral knurling, for another rifle, not an 86. SN 2118. CONDITION: Good. No original finish remains, bbl and mag tube being a thin silver-brown patina. Receiver with some traces of silver case colors, is mostly a gray-brown patina with light scattered surface spotting. Forearm has a small crack at the front end with some minor losses at the bbl channel and the stock is missing a couple of small chips at the top tang. Otherwise, is sound with a dark hand patina. Strong bore with good shine, frosty in the grooves. 4-46995 JR381 (1,250-1,750)
