*VIETNAM TROPHY RIFLE MOUNTED ON PLAQUE CHINESE TYPE-53 CARBINE IDENTIFIED TO NAVAL ADMIRAL.

SN K0038. Vietnam bring-back or trophy rifle Chinese Type-53 manufactured in 1960, cal. 762 by X 54R. Mounted on what appears to be an in country made display frame with materials dated January 1966. Plaque is engraved “Presented to Captain Earl Frank Rectanus, Comnavforc-N-2 by Commander Nguyen-Van-Tan dated 2-6-1969.” Captain Rectanus later in his career retired as Vice Admiral, having served his country in World War II, Persian Gulf, and Vietnam, with his passing in 2009. A unique Vietnam presentation bring-back. CONDITION: Quite fine overall for a rifle that served in the jungles of Southeast Asia. All exterior metal components are plum brown with an even patina. Handguard has crack in top and stocks have been period brown painted which is fairly common for bring-back rifles. Rifle is complete and functioning and is mounted utilizing two simple screws through the sling slots of stock with no modification to rifle. 51059-1 TDW (2,500-4,500) C&R – Lot 1541
