RARE AND DESIRABLE SHARPS BORCHARDT CARBINE.

SN 9843. Cal. 45-70. 24″ Rnd bbl. Blue finish. Straight grained American walnut stocks. Saddle ring and checkered steel buttplate. Standard sights for this model. Bbl is marked “OLD RELIABLE”. Receiver is stamped on left side “Borchardt Patent” over “Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Conn.” over “U.S.A.” Buttstock is stamped “1.C.T.” over “27”. Standard sights for this model. Saddle ring on left side of receiver. One of only 384 produced. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl has an even brown patina overall with sharp bbl markings and very good sights. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Receiver shows 20-30% blue finish overall with some staining and some scratching on right side. Screws are very good with considerable bright blue remaining. Breech block is a mottled brown patina. Stocks are very good and full-sized with numerous dents and scratches overall. Stamp in buttstock is clear. Steel buttplate has brown patina overall with strong checkering. Bbl band in an even brown patina with some high point wear on right side. A very desirable and rare Sharps Borchardt carbine from an old Texas collection. 49973-483 TEP (3,800-5,800) – Lot 1531
