RARE BUFFALO GUM VENDOR.

This machine was manufactured by White Vending Co., the same company that made the cast iron Happy Jap gum vendor. An elaborate clockwork mechanism that when a coin was deposited the mechanism would trip and the four gum columns would turn 1/4 revolution dispensing a piece of gum. A fabulous original decal on front & side of the globe picturing a buffalo, in huge letters “PEPSIN”, and in small letters “GUM 1¢”. Overall the decal is in very good condition with some minimal lifting most noticeable in the gold background. A slotted ball on top of the machine more than likely held some sort of a sign which the original is missing but a wonderful replica has been made, on one side indicates, drop one cent here” and on the reverse side, “Property of Buffalo Gum Company. This is a great, rare gum vendor and just one of a handful of early machines that had exposed clockwork mechanisms. SIZE: Approx 14-1/2” t. CONDITION: Overall good to very good original. It appears that above gum delivery chute there was originally a little plaque indicating the White Gum Co. of Buffalo New York. A very fine replica has been made which is pictured and just needs to be soldered into place. 1-14919 (9,000-11,000) – Lot 1505
