THIRD MODEL INDIA PATTERN BROWN BESS MUSKET.SN NSN. Cal. 75. This is a very nice commercially proofed musket, in fine original condition. Lock is crisply marked with king’s crown over “GR” cypher forward of hammer and agent marked “J.G. JONES” rear of hammer. Typical configuration 55-1/2″ overall with 39-1/4″ rnd smooth bore bbl, brass mounted, complete with bayonet maker marked “MAKIN” with scabbard and sling. PROVENANCE: Consignor purchased from George Woodbridge, Brigand of the American Revolution about 1970 which explains the sling & bayonet scabbard. CONDITION: Very good to fine overall, metal has been buffed to bright with scattered areas of staining and light pitting. Lock markings and bbl proofs are all easily discerned. Accompanying bayonet with 17″ blade in similar condition with a reproduction scabbard and sling, otherwise gun appears complete and original. Stock is sound and solid, refinished with glued crack repair opposite lock about 3″ long, brass mounts cleaned with scattered scratches and minor blemishes with light mustard colored patina.
