GALLE FAIENCE BASKET.

Galle Faience basket is ornately decorated with molded dragon’s heads along with scrolls and stylized leaves. A cartouche between the dragon’s heads on the side of the basket is painted with a sailing ship at sea. The basket is finished in a dark brown glaze with cream colored trim. The impressed patterns are further highlighted by gilding. Basket is signed with an ornate signature on the entire underside with impressed scrolls, a crest, as well as “Modele depose Emil Galle Fecit”. The basket also carries the remnants of an original Emile Galle paper label. SIZE: 14″ l x 9-3/4″ t. CONDITION: Consignor tells us that he had some minor chips professionally restored.
