*SCARCE COLT MODEL 1917 DA REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL BOX.

SN 336341. Cal 45 Auto Cartridge (45 ACP). Blue finish with 5-1/2″ bbl, full orig front sight with groove rear sight in the top strap. Top of bbl has 2-line Colt address & patent dates and left side is marked “COLT MODEL 1917 .45 AUTO. CTGE.” Left side plate has the Rampant Colt trademark. Mounted with checkered 2-pc walnut grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions. Accompanied by its orig burgundy 2-pc cardboard box that has black & white end label & matching SN in pencil on the bottom. Inside the box is a small Colt instructions pamphlet, a Colt marked small manila envelope containing 2 half-moon clips & a wire handled bristle brush. Box also contains the orig brown tissue paper. Also accompanied by a Colt Factory letter which identifies this revolver in cal .45 auto-cartridge with 5-1/2″ bbl, blue (war-time finish), type of stocks is not listed and shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Co. St. Louis, Missouri on July 28, 1932 to order number 3622 in a 500 gun shipment. Almost certainly that large of a shipment was intended for a state militia or foreign government purchase. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine. Crisp & new, appears to be unfired with only a partial, extremely faint hint of a cylinder line. Grips are equally crisp.
