HANDEL EXOTIC BIRD TABLE LAMP.

Handel table lamp has reverse painted dome shade with brightly colored exotic bird on front and back of shade, bird has bright orange, blue, green and yellow feathers and is perched on a black branch against a light green background. Bird on the opposite side of the shade is in flight. Birds are surrounded by foliage in the form of black, amber and green leaves and the shade is finished on the exterior in chipped ice. Signed on interior edge “Handel 7685” and also artist signed “Mosher” for George Mosher, 1927. Shade rests on a Handel base with round platform foot decorated in stylized leaves with 3 legs supporting an urn shaped center which gives way to a simple riser leading to a 3 socket cluster and fleur-de-lis cap. Base is finished in dark brown. Unsigned. Lamp is pictured in the book Handel Lamps by DeFalco, Hibel & Hibel, page 146. SIZE: Shade 18″ dia. Lamp 23-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Shade has a few tiny flea bites to the bottom edge, otherwise very good to excellent.
