*EXTRAORDINARILY RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED HI-STANDARD MODEL 0-101 OLYMPIC SEMI-AUTO PISTOL WITH BOX.SN 476731. Cal 22 Short. All blue finish with 6-3/4″ heavy rnd bbl, Partridge front sight on a ramp and fully adjustable rear sight in the slide dovetail. Mounted with hi-standard brown thumb rest composition grips. Accompanied by one all blue magazine with marked base. Pistol is beautifully engraved with about 65% coverage, very fine foliate arabesque patterns with fine shading. Matching engraving extends full coverage over top of slide and chamber area of the bbl, from the frame to the front sight on the bbl and both sides of the bbl. Trigger guard & bottom front of the frame are engraved to match. Also accompanied by an orig burgundy & yellow 2-pc cardboard box with another serial number on the end label. There is an hand written over-label marked “Olympic / #476731 (Engraved)”. Interior has the cutout for the pistol. Extremely few Hi-Standard pistols were engraved due to the associated costs wherein the engraving probably cost as much or more than the base pistol. It is very likely that this pistol was an exhibition piece for the company. Accompanying this gun is a copy of correspondence dated 9-29-1981 from High Standard V.P. of Sales Bill Donovan outlining the history of this gun as factory engraved, and Charles Petty, author of “High Standard Automatic Pistols” has written a letter regarding this gun. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: New & unfired. Retains virtually all of its crisp orig factory blue, showing no wear and no handling or use marks. Grips are equally new. Box has one broken corner in the bottom, otherwise box is sound showing light edge wear. 51516-20 JRL (8,000-14,000) C&R – Lot 1481 Click here to view provenance
