PAIR OF CIVIL WAR REVOLVERS CONSISTING OF A REMINGTON NEW MODEL 1858 AND A COLT MODEL 1860 WITH A PERIOD FLAP HOLSTER.SN 106136/66517. 1) Remington: cal. .44 8″ bbl, blue finish, 2 pc. walnut grips, revolver shows “H” inspector marks on bbl, frame, and cylinder. Remington new model barrel address, backstrap has a slot cut about 1/3 of way down, possibly to mount a shoulder stock. Grip frame shows SN stamped on left side, bbl shows serial number on bottom under loading lever.Inspector mark “D” forward of trigger guard. Left grip shows remnants of an “OWA” cartouche. Right grip is unmarked. 2) Colt: cal .44 8″ bbl, blue and case colored finish, walnut grips. Revolver shows “K” inspector mark at rear of cylinder and “H” inspector mark behind hammer. There is also “H” inspector mark behind trigger guard. Grips have been sanded and re-varnished, show ghost of cartouche on left side. CONDITION: 1) Revolver has plum brown patina overall, with some roughness on right side of barrel, a readable barrel address, and good grips with a readable cartouche. 2) Revolver has grey brown patina overall, brass trigger guard has been polished. Cylinder shows 20% of cylinder naval scene and is SNd to gun. All SNs match including wedge, arbor and grips. Holster is in poor condition. 49963-1 (3,000-4,000) – Lot 1481
