LUTZ/MARKLIN 3-TIERED FORT.

A wonderful turn of the century German toy. So typical of toy makers, they copied real life objects in miniature form, this particular miniaturized fort has a revolving platform that the child could line his soldiers on and they would be constantly guarding the lower level. It must have been a delight for the young boy to play with this classic toy and for his friend/foe attacking the fort with his soldiers. Hand painted in a realistic manner, the 3-tiered fort offered protection should the first level be taken by the advancing enemy. Most realistic in form and a great centerpiece, especially for a solder collector! Recently purchased at a tag sale near Schenectady, NY; it came from the Yates Estate. As this tag sale was being conducted, this toy was brought down from the attic. The consignor attended the tag sale, not being a toy collector, but they found this piece fascinating. Finally after viewing it several times over the course of an hour they decided to purchase it thinking it was unique, and for some reason, being drawn to the piece. Basically the piece is in untouched as found condition. The paint overall being all original but flaking in areas, and needing some minor straightening and/or soldering in a few areas. As found and absolutely fresh to the market!! SIZE: Approx 21″ d x 18-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Overall as stated above, missing 3 flags on turrets, and evidently a couple of pillar posts missing on lower front center section. 1-15126 (2,500-4,500) – Lot 1480
