EARLY MARKLIN TRAIN SET.

A fine early turn of the century hand painted Marklin train comprising of an 0-4-0 engine & tender, a 4-wheel red second class passenger car, and a brown baggage car. Cars have early hoop cupplers and cast iron wheels. The engine is enameled in black & dark green with red highlighting and cast steam chests. Tender is enameled in dark green with lighter green & red pinstriping. Passenger is in red with yellow pinstriping, and baggage car is dark brown with black highlighting. A nice early set that would have had the simplified side rods (missing) attached to steam chest. SIZE: Overall 24” l. CONDITION: As stated above, red spoked wheels on engine appear to have some paint enhancement/overpaint, engine still retains significant amounts of gold wash on clockwork mechanism frame, minor touchup of black paint to front of engine, cuppler, and front bumpers. 1-15152 (1,000-1,500) – Lot 1479
