*SCARCE SMITH & WESSON MODEL 59 DEVEL CONVERSION SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.SN A628525.112. Cal. 9mm. Satin chrome or electroless nickel finish with 3-3/8″ bbl, DeVel custom front sight with red enamel inlay and windage adjustable rear sight. Mounted with burgundy Micarta flat panel grips with clear lucite viewing ports that have red enamel DeVel medallions. Slide has 4 lightening cuts, the slide & bbl have been shortened, the trigger guard has been extended with a finger rest and the grip also shortened and it has a bobbed hammer. Magazine is shortened, probably to 10 rnds. Accompanied by a total of 4 orig DeVel magazines. These pistols were the forerunner of today’s compact carry pistols. They were extremely well made and in their day were very expensive. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains about 98-99% crisp custom finish. Magazines are matching finish. Grips are sound with only a minor nick or two, showing very light edge wear from handling. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 51505-8 (2,500-4,500) – Lot 1478
