UNUSUAL ABBOTTS MILK WAGON.Similar in nature to the various milk wagons produced by the Schoenhut firm of Philadelphia, PA in the 1920s and early 1930s. This particular example is somewhat smaller than the usual models and of lighter construction as well. Perhaps this could have been produced by the Schoenhut firm to accompany their reduced line of circus animals and figures? Of the various milk wagons produced by the Schoenhut firm, this is probably one of the most visually attractive models featuring a cow and milkmaid, an abundance of lettering on the side and a marquee on top for Abbotts Ice Cream. Included with wagon is a crate of milk containing six bottles. SIZE: Overall is 11-1/4″ not including shafts. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus condition. Some minor flaking to left side, lacking horse. 1-15156 (1,200-1,800) – Lot 1474 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
