The two back covers also double as picks for cleaning horse hooves. The overall length closed is .956″. There is a flat blade screw driver on the bolster end in the middle of the frame that is usable when all the blades are closed. The scales or handles are manila gold lipped carved mother of pearl shell that is now extinct or nearly so. The Scales are beautifully carved and are in perfect condition with no chips or damage. This is a true rarity as most scales such as these have little survival in prime condition. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of the finest mechanical art known. CONDITION: The condition is absolutely outstanding. No damage or degradation exist. The Gold plate is full with no loss. The exhibition quality carved mother of pearl scales are not chipped or flaked. The mechanics are crisp and lock up distinct.
