EXTREMELY RARE LARGE FRAME .41 CAL REID “MY FRIEND” KNUCKLEDUSTER.

SN 8327. Cal. 41. Extremely rare trap-door style frame marked on top “MY FRIEND” PATENTED DECEMBER 26, 1865. Bronze frame. Cylinder pin with matching SN at front of frame. Hammer originally in the white. Cylinder with blue finish. Front of frame with safety as is typically found on the pre SN 10,000 guns. Grip sides with very tasteful floral scroll. Front of trigger guard with SN, butt with knurling in shield motif. Top strap nicely scroll engraved and background shaded. Front frame with light sunburst line engraving. PROVENANCE: The Carmen Gianforte Collection. CONDITION: Excellent as found. Retains traces of orig silver on frame, top strap and at grip, perhaps as much as 15%. Cylinder retains 25-35% orig toned blued finish. Hammer is also very good. Engraving is sharp. Bore is very good with light wear and scattered staining. Mechanics are crisp. According to our consignor, who has been cataloging these guns for more than 25 years, there are only approx 16 .41 cal Knuckledusters known.
